Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2019: The Future Of Finance Is (More) Female

As investors await a conclusion to Sino trade negotiations against the backdrop of a slowing Chinese economy, many are finding stronger investment themes in Southeast Asia’s growth story. Talented young financiers are forging paths into frontier markets with hundreds of millions in backing. Forbes honors some of the female trailblazers in this year’s 30 Under 30 Asia list in the Finance and Venture Capital category.

Based in Jakarta, Ellen Nio leads the Investing in Women Program at Patamar Capital. The $45 million venture capital fund focuses on impact investing in businesses that increase the livelihood and economic benefit of lower income households in emerging markets. The network engineer by training, Nio hopes to empower women through making funds available to female business owners. Prior to joining Patamar as an investment associate, she was Chief of Staff for Jakarta’s Smart City initiative addressing data transparency issues.
